Privacy Policy for AfspraakWacht

AfspraakWacht ("we", "us", "the app") monitors appointment availability at the Dutch Immigration and Naturalisation Service (IND) and Dutch municipalities (gemeenten), and notifies you the moment a matching slot opens up. This page explains what data the app collects, why, and what rights you have over it.

AfspraakWacht works without a traditional account — there is no name, email, or password to sign up with. The data described below is the minimum needed to run your monitors and deliver notifications.

1. Who is responsible for your data

AfspraakWacht is developed and operated by Yassin, based in The Hague, The Netherlands. For any question about this policy or your data, contact:

2. What data we collect

When you install and use AfspraakWacht, we collect:

A device identifier (push token). Used only to deliver notifications to your device through Apple's Push Notification service. Without it, we cannot notify you when a slot opens.
A randomly generated user ID. Created on first launch to associate your monitors and settings with your device — not tied to your name, email, or any other personal identifier.
Your monitor configuration. The IND product or gemeente service you're watching, the office/location, your acceptable date range, and (optionally) preferred times of day. This is the core information the app needs to know what to check for on your behalf.
Your language preference. So the app and its notifications are shown in the language you've selected.
Your subscription status (free or Pro). Apple's App Store processes the actual payment — we never see or store your card details. We only store whether your subscription is currently active, to unlock Pro features.

We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, physical address, precise or approximate location, photos, contacts, health data, or any other category of personal data beyond what's listed above. We do not use analytics or advertising SDKs of any kind, and none of the data above is used to track you across other apps or websites.

3. Why we process this data, and our legal basis

All of the data above is processed for one purpose: to provide the monitoring and notification service you've asked for by setting up a monitor. Under the GDPR, our legal basis is performance of a contract (Art. 6(1)(b)) — we can't run your monitor or notify you without it — and, for basic technical operation, legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f)) in keeping the service secure and functioning correctly.

4. Where your data is stored

Your data is stored on a server located in Helsinki, Finland, within the European Union. It does not leave the EU, except where Apple's own infrastructure (push notifications, App Store payment processing) is involved — Apple's processing of that data is governed by Apple's own privacy policy.

5. Who we share data with

We do not sell your data, and we do not share it with advertisers or data brokers. Data is shared only with:

Apple — to deliver push notifications (APNs) and to process Pro subscription payments (App Store/StoreKit). Apple never shares your card details with us.
Our hosting provider — solely to run the server that stores the data described above.

We do not send your data to the IND or to any gemeente. AfspraakWacht only reads publicly available appointment-availability information from their systems — it does not submit, upload, or share anything about you to them. Setting up a monitor in AfspraakWacht does not book, hold, or affect any appointment.

6. How long we keep your data

We keep your monitor configuration and associated identifiers for as long as you have an active monitor, or until you ask us to delete it. If you delete a monitor in the app, its configuration is removed from our server immediately. If you'd like your entire record — including your device identifier and user ID — deleted, contact us (see Section 8) and we'll remove it promptly.

7. Children's privacy

AfspraakWacht is not directed at children and is rated 4+ on the App Store. We do not knowingly collect data from children, and the app has no features that require age verification because it collects no data that would make that necessary.

8. Your rights

Under the GDPR, you have the right to:

Access the data we hold about you
Correct inaccurate data
Request deletion of your data
Object to or restrict how we process your data
Receive a copy of your data in a portable format
Lodge a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens) or your local supervisory authority

To exercise any of these rights, email yassinbouasri@outlook.com. Since AfspraakWacht doesn't use traditional accounts, we may ask you to confirm your device's user ID (visible in the app, if we add a way to display it) so we can locate and act on the correct record.

9. Cookies and tracking

AfspraakWacht is a mobile app, not a website — it does not use cookies. It does not use any advertising identifier and does not track you across other companies' apps or websites.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time — for example, if we add new features or integrate a new service provider. The "Last updated" date at the top will always reflect the latest version. Material changes will be reflected here before they take effect.
